rndmz — A Twisted Sister & The Bass Whale

rndmz -- A Twisted Sister & The Bass Whale 21:00--23:00 Thursday (first Thursday of the month) Broadcast monthly, an often chaotic, musically diverse, random trek through the strange and diverse minds of your hosts. Expect both the expected and otherwise, wump, achingly beautiful to glitchy and fuzzy (and stuff to make you dance). Interspersed with a little bit of relevant chat, further interspersed with wildly irrelevant chat. During the transmission […]

rndmz — A Twisted Sister & The Bass Whale
21:00–23:00 Thursday (first Thursday of the month)

A Twisted Sister (aka Terry Haslam) has been DJing and part of the music scene for 30+ years.

It all started in the Y2K after Terry moved to London to train as a actor and find her fortune. Terry and her then DJ partner and best friend, Angie Hicks, were asked to play a friend’s birthday in a popular pub in Highbury, London. The DJ set went down so well the owner of the pub asked Twisted Sisters to do a weekly Friday night residency which lasted over two years.

Following on from the success in the pub, the Twisted Sisters were invited to play many venues such as Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, the ICA, Egg, Camden’s Roundhouse, Blush Bar and many many house parties. After a while carers were forged, houses bought and life took The Twisted Sisters in different directions. One sister headed to a English seaside town where she still DJs at her local pub and creates content for her and her husband’s band.

Terry headed to Spain where she farms olives and is still seeking fame and fortune as a actor. During this time, a chance meeting in COVID lockdown with a certain person called The Bass Whale (Paul) would change everything. What started out as a donkey poop pickup ended up with Terry and Paul the deadlocked Rapunzel talking music for over a hour over a high wooden balcony. It was very apparent that a bond had been forged.

Fast forward three years after another conversation re missing decks and long lost music collections. You will find Terry and Paul on Strawberry Rhythms Radio. Co-hosting a monthly show called rndmz where Terry and Paul go through their vast personal CD collections. The journey is personal with each DJ learning new music from each other along the way. The rndmz partnership has one brain that holds no information but brings fine music and comedy and one brain that brings the facts, history, great tuneage and dry, dry wit. We leave it to you to work out which is which?
